Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is essential to our finance team, responsible for managing key accounting functions and ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, with at least 5 years of relevant experience and a degree in accounting. This role requires a proactive professional who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting:

  • Assist and own the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports across global locations
  • Coordinate the year-end audit process , acting as a liaison with external auditors
  • Prepare necessary schedules and documentation to support external audits
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

2. General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Execute month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations and consolidation procedures for all locations

3. Account Reconciliation:

  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting and other key accounts to ensure proper recording of transactions across all global locations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances.

4. Payroll processing:

  • Manage bi-weekly/monthly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees for our US and international employees.
  • Review and verify timesheets, manage employee benefits deductions, and handle payroll tax calculations and filings.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve employee compensation and benefits issues, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.

5. Revenue, Billing and collection:

  • Oversee revenue recognition processes in accordance with ASC 606/IFRS 15.
  • Manage the billing cycle to ensure timely and accurate invoicing for services rendered.
  • Monitor collections, follow up on outstanding receivables, and address any discrepancies

6. Managing commission payments:

  • Oversee the calculations, distributions and communication , ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Maintain commission records, track performance against targets, and collaborate with Sales and HR teams to address inquiries.

7. Tax and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Coordinate with the tax consultant to manage annual tax filings and documentation, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Support or manage any tax audits as needed, coordinating with tax authorities and preparing all required documentation.

8. Special Projects:

  • Participate in special accounting projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for various business decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three of accounting experience working in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficiency and experience in ERP systems (such as Sage Intacct or Netsuite)
  • Experience working in with spreadsheet tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with tech startups is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Canada tax and compliance requirements is a plus

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: A collaborative team player with a proactive, "can-do" attitude, ready to support colleagues and mentor junior staff.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with remote work options.
  • May require extended hours during peak periods, such as month-end and year-end close.

Compensation:

  • The target base salary for this role is C$75,000 to C$85,000 plus equity.
