VP of Engineering
First Resonance
We're looking for a Director of Engineering to join us in our mission of bringing the ION Factory OS to next-generation hardware builders around the globe. This leader will join the First Resonance team full-time in Los Angeles, CA (HQ in Downtown) and become an integral member of the First Resonance engineering team.You will lead engineering for all aspects of our platform, taking responsibility for all aspects from our architecture, delivery, team and engineering organization to the quality, reliability, and security of software we deliver. Together with your team of engineers you will directly build and impact the future of manufacturing around the globe.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Quickly become an expert on the product architecture and workflows
- Set and execute upon the technical vision and long-term strategy for the ION platform
- Ensure our solutions are scalable, balanced, architecturally sound, and that technical debt is incurred consciously and repaid in a reasonable time
- Drive architectural changes (microservices, cloud initiatives, etc.)
- Set up goals, review progress, and discuss career advancement with team members
- Recruit future engineers to join the engineering team that scales our high-performance engineering team
- Ensure that we are engineering for the future
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor of Science/Master of Science degree in Computer Science or equally relevant degree or an equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience
- 7+ years’ experience in an engineering position creating code-based solutions and tools
- 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role leading multiple engineering teams in a director capacity
- Understanding of and experience with client-side & server-side, web and mobile technologies, languages, and framework
- Solid expert knowledge and experience in architecture design and workflows, software engineering methodologies, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, and creative problem-solving.
- Strong business insight and judgment, team-orientated, and provides a collaborative and inclusive style work environment and team dynamic
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to communicate sophisticated technical issues effectively and concisely to executives, team members and others
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience leading and scaling a startups engineering team
- Experience the AWS services stack
- Experience with Python and Javascript
Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity and benefits.
